This hybrid engine is mighty powerful but where it really shines is fuel efficiency. You get an impressive 52 combined MPG. With the hybrid engine, not only do you have the benefits of a fuel efficient hybrid, you also have the option to drive on full electric power too. With a full charge, you’ll have an estimated 25 miles of just electric power. That means for short commutes or trips to the store, you won’t have to use gas at all.
Prius Prime Plug-In Hybrid Specs
The 2022 Prius Prime is making a splash in the plug-in hybrid world. You can charge from your home with a typical 120 volt wall charger and have a full battery in about five and a half hours, or with a public 240 volt charger in two hours and ten minutes. If you do forget to charge up or you don’t quite have a full battery, your Prime will automatically switch to your fuel engine. The Prime offers several different modes to optimize your drive including electric vehicle or EV mode, electric vehicle auto mode that selects EV or hybrid driving based on driving conditions, and hybrid vehicle mode that combines gas and electric power.
